Building a Vista Gaming Rig, and a theoretical amount as to how much it'll cost

I'm reading through this Gamespy Article on Building a Gaming (read again, GAMING) PC for playing games on Windows Vista, plus a short commentary on when it is best to move into Vista. (on a side note, I'm jealous as to how they have access to have funds to buy their equipment. All I can do is wish that some good providers give me parts to build a Gaming test rig for me hehehe)

    http://pc.gamespy.com/articles/767/767965p1.html

update: nakakahimatay ang price... 138,000 (lahat kasi premium and maxed out na rin yung mga parts Indifferent)

Many will tell you how cheap 138,000 Php for a gaming system is, for the really bleeding edge systems it's around 250,000++ including kickass cooling.

those people have lots of money to burn. i mean...you spend that much for a system that'll be obsolete -- well, actually not, more like "no longer state-of-the-art" -- in three months.

i find little reason to do that. but then that's just me. and not all of the people think like me Stick out tongue

It's getting really pathetic at this point, I'd like for you to know that.

I guess some people find what they love the most to be worth it, heh, if I had the money myself I would.

Re: Building a Vista Gaming Rig, and a theoretical amount as to how much it'll cost

You don't really need to spend Php100K for a Vista gaming rig.

I myself built one. I think it's very acceptable. I even haven't unleashed my new system's potential yet. All for a total of Php55,500.

If I get the 8800 GTX, another 1GB of RAM, and cooling system to reach the 3Ghz-4Ghz OC setup of my rig, it would be a total of Php80K give or take. Not Php100K. Fair price for ultimate vista gaming desktop as compared of buying just a laptop of the same price.

If you want to check out my PC system, take a look at my blog. It has photos of it too. (Sorry for plugging in a small advert hehe)

With Mac and a virtual PC proggy, you can play any games you like. And to think that it's mac, expect high fps in games.

it may be, but customization wise, it's very limited, and condition for this discussion is that boot camp's not an option for gaming

Apparently, new DX10 cards still partially support Vista OS's DX10 as of now. And their price is at most 32k or so.

What happens if MS DX10 will be recompiled to support backward compatibility? Any opinions?
