WSUS 3.0 SP1 on Windows Server 2008 Part 1

Part 1, Installation:

Login to your Windows Server 2008 and make sure to have these following requirements:

Windows Server 2008 Requirements:

• Install and Configure Microsoft Internet Information Services 7.0 (IIS 7.0)

• Common HTTP Features (including Static Content)

  ·      ASP.NET, ISAPI Extensions, and ISAPI Features (under Application Development)

  ·      Windows Authentication (under Security)

  ·      IIS Metabase Compatibility (under Management Tools, expand IIS 6 Management Compatibility)

• Microsoft Report Viewer 2005 Redistributable 

on your Server launch the WSUS setup program for this demo I've used WSUSSetup_30SP1_x86

There are two kinds of installation:

Full server installation including Administration Console or Administration Console Only

By default update storage and database is place to C:\WSUS but then again it's up to you to install it in a separate NTFS drive with atleast 6GB of free space for the storage and 2GB of free space for the database.

Installation of WSUS 3.0 SP1 is complete next step is to configure it.
