One of the usual things I normally hear whenever I talk about the 2007 Microsoft Office System and the Fluent User Interface is that some people are having a hard time looking for their way around because they are used to what they have in the previous versions.

One of the interesting projects in Microsoft Office Labs (http://officelabs.com) is what they call the Search Commands. It helps a user locate commands, options, wizards and galleries in Word 2007, Excel 2007 and PowerPoint 2007 with the use of search.

Although this is not yet final and is still an experimental add-in, I would say that this one is worth trying especially for those users who are still adjusting to the Microsoft Office Fluent UI.

I've been reading the Microsoft Office Outlook Blog and I found something interesting regarding the date and time fields in Microsoft Outlook. Instead of selecting the date itself in the date field you can just type something like:

Thursday

Three Days from Now

Third Thursday of April

Five Weeks and Three Days after Valentine's Day

Microsoft Office Outlook in-turn computes the date for you. So if you are going to set-up a 'meeting' five weeks and three days after Valentine's Day it'll be March 19, 2008.

Same goes with the time field with the End time, typing fifteen minutes will compute fifteen minutes from the start time. However, the time field is more limited than the date field.

Try this and see how this works for you!

Till next time, happy valentines day!

Everything is working well, I can call Outlook Voice Access and the Unified Messaging Auto Attendant as well as the other users, I can even do video conferencing and etc. I noticed that if I missed call someone, no notification will arrive in his inbox, even if I left a voice message, nothing happens. I wondered, what went wrong?

My first approach to the problem is to take a look at the Event Viewer on the server where Microsoft Exchange is installed. The first thing I noticed is that I’ve been receiving errors from MSExchange Unified Messaging with Event ID 1082. The error states that the UM Server was unable to submit messages to a Hub Transport Server since there is no Hub Transport Server available to process the request. Given the additional information provided by description of the event, I assumed that the UM Server can’t send the missed call notifications. In addition to, there is also an error coming from MSExchange Transport with Event ID 12013 which suggests that there might be something wrong with the certificate; The event details suggested that I do these two things:

Run the following command in the Exchange Management Shell: Enable-ExchangeCertificate <thumbprint> -services SMTP or

Create a new certificate: New-ExchangeCertificate -domainname <serverfqdn> -services SMTP

The first suggestion failed, the CMDLET stated that there are insufficient rights to grant Network Service access to the certificate. So I executed the second suggestion, and after a while there were no errors and I noticed that the missed call notifications were delivered.
